case details:

Jones’s family started their day on May 10th, 1992, with church service at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Edgard, Louisiana. That Sunday was Mother’s day and Jones’s mother was invited by her boyfriend’s uncle (Glenn Edwards) and his girlfriend (Leola Jackson) to attend another church program and Mother’s day gathering in Woodville, Mississippi.

Edwards and Jackson were guardians of a 2-year-old, Lamoine Allen. Allen was being looked after by the couple while his father was in the military and his mother was in college out of state. Jones’s mom believed it would be a nice afternoon and agreed to go with the couple to Woodville.

After the church program, the families then went to gathering that spanned several homes down a narrow road just off of Highway 24. The gathering was much like a block party with several homes having games and food. Leola’s father owned a grocery store at the end of the road called the Jimmy Jackson Grocery Store. There was a house behind the store that was also involved in the festivities. Many of the children were going back and forth between houses playing with one another while the adults stayed in the front yard of a home cooking, eating, and visiting.

Jones and her older sister were thought to be playing at the house directly next door to the home where most of the adults were when Glenn and Leola pulled up in the yard and frantically told everyone that they could not find Allen. Carla immediately ran next door to check on her daughters. She found Jones’s older sister who said she had gone with a girl named Tasha and had not come back yet. This prompted Carla to go to the Jimmy Jackson Grocery Store since that is the last known direction Tasha and Jones were headed in. Tasha did not know where Jones was. The adults began going door to door down the street in an attempt to find Jones and Allen but they were unsuccessful. It was at this point that law enforcement was called and Jones and Allen were reported missing.

Law enforcement personnel arrived and began an extensive search for the children utilizing scent tracking k9s. Their efforts were unsuccessful. Neither Jones, nor Allen have been located. Jones’s case remains unsolved at this time.
