case details:
Herring was living in Ferriday, Louisiana prior to his disappearance. At the time he disappeared, he was staying at the Best Western in Natchez, Mississippi. He went to the front desk of the hotel and asked the receptionist to call an ambulance because he was having trouble with his ankle. When the ambulance arrived at the hotel, Herring ran down the street to the Natchez Visitor Center. This was the last time that he was seen.
