case details:

Heflin was last seen on January 1, 1969, in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. Heflin and his wife were separated at the time he disappeared. He was living in Jackson, Mississippi, and working at Kroger at the time. Both Heflin and his vehicle remain missing at this time.

It is believed that Heflin may have been the getaway driver for a crime and it was known that he was involved in illegal activity with a man in Longview, Mississippi. Prior to his disappearance, Heflin’s friend gave him a ride to a man’s house. Heflin got out of the vehicle and went into the house to speak with the man. Heflin’s friend could hear the men in a verbal altercation. Heflin then returned to the vehicle and was crying. He stated that he could not tell his friend what was going on because it would put his life in danger. The friend urged Heflin to go to the police but Heflin refused, stating that the man had threatened to kill his family.

Heflin’s estranged wife said it was not unlike him to drop out of sight for months at a time but she did not believe that he would completely abandon their children without some sort of explanation.
