Dutton was last seen in Long Beach, Mississippi on July 8, 2000. He was working as a cab driver for the Yellow Cab Company in Biloxi, Mississippi at the time of his disappearance. His last fare was to an address in Gulfport, Mississippi around 8:50 p.m.
Dutton’s father saw him after his shift at their home at 11:00 p.m. The next morning Dutton was gone. He left a note saying he was leaving for a few days. His father reported him missing on July 17th. He has never been seen or heard from since.
On July 13th, Dutton’s taxi was found at a Days Inn in Lake City, Florida some 400 miles from Long Beach, Mississippi.
Dutton’s checkbook, glasses, and some receipts were located inside the cab. In the trunk, there was half of a roll of duct tape and a bent golf club. He had not registered as a guest at the Days Inn.
Hotel staff called the cab company who called Dutton’s parents. They had the car towed back to Long Beach, Mississippi.
Receipts in the cab showed that Dutton purchased a backpack, toothbrush, and toothpaste the day he disappeared.
Dutton had overdrawn his bank account prior to vanishing and maxed out a credit card for up to $10,000. A .22 caliber firearm that his father had purchased for him also disappeared with him.
Dutton has not accessed his accounts or contacted anyone since his disappearance. Few details are available in his case but the case remains unsolved at this time.
