case details:

On New Year’s Day of 2021, Stacks and her boyfriend, Jerry Baggett, went to a friend’s house in the early morning hours to “rent” or borrow a boat. Baggett alleged that the two planned to take the boat, which had no motor or oars, and float down the river to hunt for animals that were stranded due to the swollen river. He planned to use a shovel to steer the boat. He says that Stacks left her phone with the friend so that they would have a way to call for a ride when they were done.

At around 5:30 a.m., Baggett and a female are seen on surveillance video getting gas in a truck. Hitched to the truck is a boat with no motor. On the video, you can see the passenger door open to show a female inside of the truck. Baggett alleges that the female in the video is Stacks and that after leaving the gas station, the two launched the boat near a bridge on County Road 46 into the Little Tallahatchie River in Union County, Mississippi. He said that when they got about 2 miles down river, the boat began taking on water, so they pulled off onto a sandbar to empty the water from the boat. The two then got into an argument and when Baggett got back into the boat, he says it began to move. He said that Stacks got left behind and began walking along the sandbar and toward Highway 30. Baggett states that he eventually lost sight of Stacks and when he came back to look for her, he was unable to locate her.

Law enforcement were alerted to Stacks being missing and began searching the area near where she allegedly was walking on the bank. They found a coat, a pair of gloves, a boot with the top cut off, and some footprints in the area. They were unable to locate Stacks.

In 2023, Baggett told a reporter that he actually had not seen Stacks since a few days before she went missing. He also states they were not in a rented boat that day because neither he or Stacks were able to swim. He then claimed that he was working on the day of her disappearance.

No arrests or charges have come forth in Stack’s case. She has not been seen or heard from since. Her case remains unsolved at this time.
