case details:
Sheriff was last seen at 10:30 p.m. on December 23, 1997, in Jackson, Mississippi. He left his sister’s residence en route to his home located in the 4100 block of Plaza Street. He never made it home. His car was found the next day in Hanging Moss Creek south of Briarwood Drive. It appeared that Sheriff was driving on Hanging Moss Road when his car left the road near a bridge. Searchers were unable to locate his body but did find two of his jackets in their search.
Authorities initially believed he drowned but his body was not located. Foul play is now suspected. His case remains unsolved at this time.
Sheriff worked at the Hinds County Youth Detention Center as a social studies teacher. He left behind a wife and five adult children.
